Point Ruston Plaground Reopens

The iconic playground at Point Ruston's Waterwalk reopened this afternoon to the immediate delight of passing children. The grass is a bit long, but the structure has been cleaned, the EPA required buffer zone established and the fences moved. Head down with the kids and enjoy!

New Look Around Town

Thanks to The Commencement condominiums, the Ruston school landscaping is now complete and beautiful. In addition, the aging street lights along Pearl Street have been replaced. Along with a new restaurant opening on our signature corner at N. 51st and Pearl, things are looking up around here!

March Council Action

From new grants secured by the fire department to the upcoming construction on N. Winnifred Street and a controversial decision to change a one-way street to two-way, our leaders kept busy in March. Waterwalk Open

The popular shoreline walkway through Point Ruston reopened yesterday afternoon. The staircase and playground remain fenced off during the current phase of construction.

Sewer Rate Increase Hearing Tonight

The council will hold a public hearing tonight during its regular meeting at 7pm about another sewer rate increase. Background information available here...

As many of you may have noticed, I have not had time to post as many stories as usual.  Life is pretty hectic right now and that trend may need to continue for a time. Another Sewer Rate Increase

Ruston officials will consider passing along a sewer rate increase to its customers that hit from Tacoma on January 1st. First reading of the proposal is scheduled for the council meeting tonight. This increase comes on the heels of a major increase for rate payers last year as the sewer replacement loan repayment began.

Commencement Building Converting to Condos

The News Tribune is reporting (article here) that the Commencement building with existing apartment leases is converting back to condos as originally designed. The project recently changed owners and the new group decided the market was strong enough. Point Ruston's new condo building is also highlighted in the article. All good signs for Ruston's future
