In The News

Point Defiance Casino is in the news again, although not for anything related to the town of Ruston. You can check out the News Tribune story here... Unemployment and workers comp taxes are going up, taking a toll on many small businesses. Steve Fabre's two businesses are examples of the impact the new rates will have on the bottom line during these tough economic times.

Add in the new utility taxes here in Ruston starting February, tough times keep getting harder for everyone...

Haven't you noticed that the casino has had hardly any cars in the lot for close to a year? Only when they do a special event is their lot full. How do you figure the b&o tax will impact them? Seems like they are already just hanging on by a fingernail. Am I wrong?

If you have ever owend a small business you would know.
Most put in long hours and invest everything they have in to their business.Profits, if any, are marginal. This State and our Government MUST learn that profit is not a sin.
When the going gets tough...
The State comes up with higher taxes. And Boeing moves to S.C.
How much more can we take?

last anonymous comment doesnot quite make sense to me ; why would u want to owen a small business if there are no profits or if they are marginal?

'find a need and fill it' is the way to make a business work. if u havent got that one down then you could wind up being a perpetual victim of low sales. their are businesses that make it fine even in this econcomy, so if the casino or any other business owner says how much more can wee take?, then there could be something u're doing in youre company that dozenot work and u should maybe look at that.

Sounds like whining to me. Show apositive attitude to your customers, be a good accountant and have a good product or service and you might feel different.Or you can consider doing what Boeing and Russell did to stay successful businesses.
