Bryan Ficiala Wants Bailey Council Seat

The News Tribune is reporting (here) that Bryan Ficiala mounted a last minute write in campaign against Dorothy Bailey when he heard she had moved out of town before the election. He has 15 votes compared to Bailey's 122. According to the News Tribune article, Bailey plans on resigning and the council will appoint someone to her seat. Ficiala promised to apply for the vacancy.

Does anyone have a resume for Ficala? I'd at least like to get a paragraph or two summarizing his thoughts on leading Ruston into the future.

I still haven't received an answer as to whether he would need to seek an "appointment" to this position or if he actually won the election since he came in second and the winner was ineligible.

I have a call in to the elections department with that question. The person I need to talk to is in a meeting til this afternoon. I'll let you know as soon as I can. And I'll ask Bryan to provide a statement. Thanks for the input.

I understand a vacated/resigned seat needs to be open to the public. If someone is interested in the position because of this new information they would have the opportunity to put their name in the hat to be considered for appointment. Am I wrong?

I have three calls into the elections department, but I am still waiting to hear back from their manager. I will get the correct details up as soon as I can. Mr. Ficala said he would get us some background information soon as well.

I will note that the desk person who answered the phone today said the normal process would be that the seat would be considered vacated and the council would appoint whomever they choose to fill that vacancy.
