Ruston Considering Tacoma For Permitting
The News Tribune is reporting (here) that the Ruston council is considering pursuing an inter-local agreement with Tacoma that would allow Tacoma to handle building permitting for the entire site. Tacoma would take over enforcing Ruston code on the Ruston side with their larger planning department. The Ruston council is slated to discuss the issue at it's meeting Tuesday night. Tacoma Approves Annexation
Yesterday City of Tacoma leaders approved the request to annex the Point Ruston site fully into their boundaries. The Ruston council will now consider the issue. More details here...

A Pro-Tacoma Voice

Ruston Will Issue Permits
Ruston Mayor Bruce Hopkins announced today that two building permits will be issued to Point Ruston as early as today. Read more details in The News Tribune here.

SAMI To Move
Changes are underway for the local Science And Math Institute just north of town. The News Tribune reports that the school district, Metro Parks and Point Defiance Zoo have worked out an agreement to build shared classroom inside the zoo. More details here...

Change State Law?

Ruston Mayor's Memo
Mayor Bruce Hopkins has outlined the City's position on the Point Ruston development standstill in a memo to the council, to be discussed at tonight's council meeting. The memo is available in the council information here (last item on the agenda). The council meeting is tonight at 7pm at the Mary Joyce Community Center - 5219 N. Shirley Street.
