At its meeting on December 17th, the Council appointed Wayne Stebner and another council member to contract with Tacoma for fire services. They will compare the Tacoma contract with the fire committee recommendations on January 17th.
The fire committee considered contracting with Tacoma but recommended against it in favor of growing Ruston's fire department.
Council member Stebner, as a member of the fire committee, has been steadfast in his pursuit of Tacoma's fire services.
Please research this issue and let the council know your thoughts.

Stebner seems single-minded in his determination to reduce Ruston's public safety. In light of the work done by the fire committee, he is completely without ability to justify this move. I would like to note his ignorance but since he was a member of the fire committee, the question of ignorance is out the window. He's either an utter fool or there is a personal motive behind this move. I wish he'd come clean. We are about to become residents of Tacoma without changing our residences and we have a right to know why! Mr. Stebner's silence on this reminds me of the old adage that it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Why give the council anymore imput. I thought we had been trying to tell them what we wanted and how we felt. They seem to have made up their minds to go against the recommendations of the majority of the public and of the study committee. What can we look for next?
