Call to Action

This comment on the previous post deserves consideration. Please contact the author if you are interested in voicing your concern to Tacoma Fire Department.

The Ruston Town Council has turned a deaf ear to its constituents. It is my suggestion that we now take this fight directly to the Chief of the Tacoma Fire Department. I would suggest that we let the Chief know clearly, in no uncertain terms, and publicly, that the agency does not have the support of the people of Ruston, that the Council is acting as a group of renegades, and demand that the Tacoma Fire Department cease their efforts to lead Tacoma's effort to annex Ruston. If I can get a sense that the community is behind this effort, I'm willing to take on the project. Feel free to e-mail me if you would support this effort -- saveruston@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Yesterday the Tacoma City Council passed an ordinance #27676 this was the result of a decision from Olympia. This results in the City losing $4 million each year for the next two years from their operating budget. This is going to have an impact on all their services, most notably fire and police. Tacoma is already struggling through some of their finances and this only makes it worse. It would be a horrible mistake to change to Tacoma now or any time. We have a great department and need to keep it and make it better.

The Tacoma CABAL now has the power to destroy the Town and the Fire Department. The effect of dsibanding the Fire Department will be irreversible. Do not put this past them. They are rolling on a power trip and have set their goals as disbanding the Fire Department and closing all businesses in the Town. The pending lawsuits will also do the job, especially POINT RUSTON. With bully boy on the coordinating committe look for trouble, big trouble. Incidentally, the Town will revert to Pierce County before Tacoma if it goes bankrupt.

I'm all for telling Tacoma residents publicly what a bargain Ruston is going to get from "their" emergency services,
and educating Ruston residents about loss leader advertising.

Especially after Tacoma's Mayor Barsma announced at the last Tacoma Council meeting (12-07)that
Tacoma residents may have to wait longer for emergancy responses after a large budget cut they have to absorb.
.Gosh ~ more than 6 minutes response for Tacoma to respond to Tacoma residents? When Ruston consistantly is under 3 minutes!

1. What can I do or say to help our neighbors in Ruston understand the importance of a quick response to their emergency?

2. Why/how can our Ruston constituents accept less than they deserve?

I am in for a "paid advertisement" to educate the constituants in both jurisdictions, because I care for the impact to all of us.

Anyone else want to take this last ditch effort? ~ short of walking the streets naked to get people to get involved & notice the importance of what is happening to their safety & pocket book!
