Council Meeting: Oct. 6, 2008

UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 4 @ 6:30 pm: The full packet of material for Monday's meeting is available on Ruston Reports, which includes the background information for the Stack Hill amendments.
________________________________________________
Town hall has issued the agenda for Monday's council meeting. It should be interesting. Council Member Albertson has scheduled discussion on several issues, like Tacoma taking over all Ruston services. Mayor Pro-tem Huson says the issue is not what it appears, but he does believe the town should have all available information as we address future needs.

Please join us at 7 pm at the Ruston School building, Room 101 - 5219 N. Shirley Street. See you there! ~ Karen

WOW! Albertson is hell bent on getting rid of us.Jim will need to rent a room from someone so he can speak at public comment.Hold on small business owners, you are about to be OVER TAXED.All because he wants a Tacoma address.I just don't understand it.November 09 won't get here soon enough.

Sorry to see this Ruston,
you've been good to me.

We should note that Albertson's agenda item is about Huson's contact with Tacoma for taking over services. Albertson did discussion annexation at the last council meeting, but Huson and Hunt have acknowledged meeting with Tacoma to discuss the issue of providing services. Huson told me this week he is not pursuing having Tacoma take over anything, but he does think the council should gather all the information about such a potential move.

It seems as if albertson does not want ruston to be ruston anymore. He wants Tacoma really bad for some reason.

How can a councilman for the town hold a position with that kind of view? Is what albertson is doing malfeasance?

I think a petition should go around town about annexing and ask residents what they want. If the majority don't want to be annexed then those who do want it should move or shut up. If the majority do want to be annexed then we know what we need to do.

I guess we'll see how the council feels about our new and improved police department. The comment on "the newest civil service issues" article stated the new Chief is doing a great job, and I agree, so let's support her efforts to show we all appreciate the hard work and dedication our officers give us. If the Town decides to annex we can still support our Town staff up to that point. COUNCIL, don't raise their and their families' hopes and then slap them down.

I agree. Is there going to be a problem passing this? Will the other employees get a raise?
