Myrtle Johnson

Our friend and former neighbor Myrtle Johnson is knocking on heaven's door as I write this. Her daughter Vi called today to let everyone know Myrtle is home after a week in the hospital on hospice care for her final few days.

Myrtle lived most of her life in Ruston before selling her home next to town hall to the town and moving to Oregon to be closer to her daughter. She had a grand celebration for her 99th birthday last February (below), but sadly will not see 100.

Myrtle told her family this last week she is ready to go home to Ruston. We wish you could come home one more time, Myrtle. In some sense you will always be with us ~ your many years of contributions and love are a part of the foundation of our community. We miss your gentle smile and warm greeting. Winnifred Street is not the same without you! May you find peace in the arms of the loving Savior you have served so faithfully. Godspeed on your flight.

Thank you Myrtle for selling your home to the Town.It is being put to great use now as the residence program for our fire dept. Those kind gestures are what make the community a wonderful place to live.

Bless you as you near your journey with God!
Myrtle, I think of you often...I cherish every visit I've ever had with you! How down to earth & an awesome example you have always been...shoveling snow in front of your place & Town Hall to help Steve & Steve. Darn how old where you then!? What an example you have set for us to carry on!

I gotta be honest here & say your yard will never look as good as it did when you took care of it but the firefighters are working on it. You can be so proud of these guys!

Myrtle your life journey, vision & generousity for Ruston is now helping the Ruston Fire Department & our Town grow to what it needs to be today.
Thank you! They are thriving because of you!

More than anything else I personally want you to know how much I grew because of your smile, gentleness, strength and vision. Rest easy in the knowlege that your Ruston will grow & remember your contribution.

Much Love to you & your family, Beth & Don Torbet

Blessings to Myrtle and family. The fabric and fiber of this Town were her and others of that era.
