The subcontractor working on Point Ruston's first building is facing a complaint filed by the Carpenters Union. The hearing that had been scheduled for Monday was delayed until Wednesday, according to The News Tribune. You can read the full story here...

Thanks to unions, companies like Rain City ...... can't get away with ignoring health and safety standards, at least not 100% of the time. Workers are considered expedient too often by employers, and I hope that unions continue to expose violations when they spot them, regardless of the public embarrassment factor. Generally, workers are people who work hard for their employers and deserve the protections from arsenic and lead and other toxics that are present on the former ASARCO site.
