On tap for Tuesday evenings council meeting is consideration of the planning commission's recommendation to change our comprehensive plan to reflect only the potential for residential development along the last two blocks of Pearl Street. The town staff is recommending that the council not adopt this change right now, but include it in the overall update that is required to the comprehensive plan within the next two years. It is a costly, very involved process and there may be grants available next year to help with the plan update.
This issue has generated quite a bit of interest, so if you have something to say come to the meeting at 7 pm. You'll get two minutes during public comments to give the council your input. The full packet of information for Tuesday's meeting (including the staff report) is available on Ruston Reports here and the notes from the planning commission meetings on the zoning issue are available here... and here...

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Elected officials should do what is right for the entire town.(concerning Com-P zone)
Seems shortsighted on Highland streets part. But hey.I live here.
As for the street lights, should be a 5-0 vote to light us up!
