It Can Always Be Worse

A small town in Arkansas is known as a speed trap. Tensions escalated in court last week culminating with the fire chief being shot in the back. Small towns can be challenging....

Thankfully we've never come close to that around here, even a couple of years ago when things were so heated. It's a good reminder that things can always be worse. Read the full story here...

Man alive does this hit home. Tiny RUSTON with 10 plice officers and a half million dollar budget. Scary scary. Drive slow.

For the record, I think the police department has 8 officers and they provide a great service for much less than most other agencies in Pierce County.

Better yet, there is only one officer on at a time (getting paid)what more do you want. RPD keep your head up, you're doing just fine. Lets just figure this out. 10officers @ 50K ($24 P/H)= 500K and 10 officers with benefits @ 12K + = $120K for a total of $650K without any other budgeted items. Now Anon #1 looks like you really don't know what you're talking about. What else is new in Ruston.

Of course you have to factor in that in Ruston the police budget is more than half of the total budget and that we spend at least a couple of hundred thousand more than we take in. Duh.

Guess we could always pay Tacoma Police to protect and serve Ruston. Wonder what that would do to our budget.
