21 Chair Project

Lucy Davis and Ginger Kryger have logged countless hours to date on Ruston's summer art project. They have selflessly given time, money and creative energy to organize our 21 Chair event, where 21 Adirondack chairs will be uniquely painted by 21 local artists. The chairs will be displayed along the Winnifred Street median during the Taste of Tacoma and showcased at a reception June 21st from 5 to 7 pm.

The event puts Ruston on the arts map and takes advantage of the Taste crowds wandering through town. The new street lights are in, adding to the quaint ambiance of our Ruston streets. The chairs will be sold to raise money for more art projects and local park improvements. It's a great "win" all the way around.

Events like this take a huge effort. The fact that Lucy and Ginger are still standing, considering all they have put into this, is a testament to their commitment and love for this town. The local business district is supporting the effort, but more help is needed. Things still need to be done; print and mail postcards, put together a flyer describing each artist, help with the reception, help during the Taste handing out flyers and then putting the chairs away each evening. If you would like to help, just email RustonArtsinParks@gmail.com.

I hope to have a list of the participating artists soon. I understand many of them live here in Ruston. The anticipation is growing as the artists are working on their soon-to-be-revealed creations. Many thanks to our two energetic neighbors for pulling this off!
