The comments that are coming in regarding this issue are very clear and point to the true core issue. The issue is with the current City Council and their rampant disrespect for peoples rights. Their controlling behavior of interupting or commenting during the publics comment time, shows that they are unprofessional and insecure in what they are doing and what they stand for. They make their Council comments at the end of the meeting with no opportunity for interaction or comment from the public. A shameless, undemocratic, un-American way to run a government. The issue here is that once this Council decides, behind closed doors that they disagree with someone, they target them for removal and bully them into submission. Who and what will be next in this town? Will the next target be the tagging of the houses of suspected sex offenders? Or the removal of someone who wears a nose ring or exposes a tattoo on their back? What happens when they decide that Gays and Lesbians need to go? This is not a Democratic government, this is a power play by insecure people who have a frustrated life.
We have gays and lesbians in Ruston. Ain't no big deal, they have the right to screw up or succeed like the rest of us.
What I do have a problem with is a few people that are hell-bent on destroying the town for their own monetary gain. Break the town, buy out properties and finally get to put in THEIR condos and development. Which puts us back where this all started. Someone was going to make a lot of money and got their deal quashed when it went to market rate.
Please enjoy your time reading about our town. Comments are encouraged and are monitored for civility and accuracy. Ad space is available - email karen.pickett.mba@gmail.com for more details. This is a community blog run by KWP Enterprises and not connected to Ruston government.
