"Closed Sunday ~ Church Parking"

"Closed Sunday ~ Church Parking" So reads the electronic casino sign. Given the history between the two neighbors, one might wonder if this signals a new chapter in the battle.

Not so! Because business has been slow on Sundays, the casino will be closed. Church members from the Chinese Christian Church next door are welcome to use the casino parking lot during Sunday services.

The casino will likely reopen Sundays around the Taste of Tacoma, but for now they are being downright neighborly.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. The sharing of the lot, I mean. It is not the Rev and the business owner at the root of that problem.

The News Tribune editorial board remarks about the fighting in the Town. The town's elected (so-called)leaders have created a situation where they have adversarial relations with the citizens. We are sick of the bickering between the council and mayor and all who do not agree with them.

Steve has taken a truly great step in offering the church an olive branch. Can our elected leaders do the same?

Probably being closed for a few Sundays is more to do with meeting this Casino's legal penalty of 5 days closure in 2008 due to serving alcohol to a minor.

For the first offense of service to a minor, or even allowing a minor on the premises, a bar's owner receives a $500 fine and a five-day suspension from doing business, which can mean a loss of thousands of dollars. So why not choose a slow time.

A third offense within two years means permanent closure of the bar.

After researching, I found this database on the Liquor Board's website.

http://www.liq.wa.gov/violations/vltn0801.asp

The casino isn't listed here under violations so one would assume the prior post was incorrect. If I'm wrong, please direct me to the source of that information.

I hope this wasn't another attempt to make them look bad. There are so many smear tactics lately that I prefer to see the actual source document.

To anonymous know-it-all:
Point Defiance Cafe and Casino has never been closed for a liquor violation. Besides, liquor violations have to take place on consecutive days, not once a week.
Perhaps you should check your sources better next time.

This must be a typical Bill Walker investigation - the wrong information spread throughout the town.
