Business District Celebration

Exit 133 (probably the most popular south sound blog) has joined forces with local business districts to showcase our local shopping opportunities. Each district will host a special night of prizes, games and fun.

One of the first will be our neighborhood ~ coming up in just a few days on May 29th. Participants will receive a passport that gets stamped at several businesses. There will be prize drawings and gift basket giveaways for things like a weekend at the ocean, old fashioned fountain drinks, plants and much more. Music at the Antique Sandwich Company, a bocce tournament in the lawn on Winnifred Street, lots of visitors and fun for all!

Join us Thursday, May 29th, 4 - 7 pm

Might be a good excuse for me to get to know Ruston better.

Don't forget that any Ruston business can also start a free online shop anytime to help folks go local over at shops.FeedTacoma.com. Makes it easy for people to discover businesses any day of the year!

What's the story with Cole's Oasis?

Good point. I think we can do more (as a town) to encourage that location to reopen. There was a fire at least 3 years ago, and the owner told me a couple of years ago that he was having trouble with Ruston trying to remodel/repair it. I don't recall the issues now, but he felt the requirements were to onerous and it was more costly to repair than the business was worth.

That's a great location - and it says a lot about our town that its sat there vacant for years...
