The new Welcome To Ruston signs have been out for a few weeks now. I've spotted three. They are a nice way to let people Ruston is alive and well.
I've noted a few more new things on the Point Ruston site too. The fence has been removed around the new homes that are under construction on Stack Hill. This is the first time in my 20+ years here that I've seen that area without a fence. It feels like the neighborhood is finally getting extended onto that formerly barren hillside.
And the new Copperline building is well under way. This 8-story building will have condo's, retail and some nice public art. You can check out more here. Times really are changing.... ~ Karen

Strange feeling. Felt like I was trespassing but its a public road.
I walked out this weekend into the new roads on Stack Hill this weekend. Yep, the fences are down.
On can walk through the area and look out over the Copperline development.
Looking forward to having the publicly accessible esplanade connected from Point Defiance through Ruston all the way to the Museum of Glass.
That would be so great to walk from the MOG to the point.

This all may look new and great, erik and Craig, but have a look at the casino article and posts if you want to see the real look of Ruston. thankfully, this has begun to change as newer residents have become active in Town government. The people who have dominated in the past are not letting go without some pretty vicious battles, but more and more newcomers will will move in, get active politically, and neutralize the anger in expression now.
I'm keeping the faith for better times ahead.
Accurate description from my point of view as a newcomer.
I won't get involved in town politics, even though I am interested, because I don't want to get sued by the casino, Wingard and their crowd. I don't want to be accused of sexual assault or be labeled a Nazi, because I don't agree with people I find strange, angry, and loud. I prefer peace of mind, so I will keep looking at the walkways and hope that someday Ruston will experience peace to go along with the nice walks along the shore.
Keep up the positive thoughts and keep sharing them, erik.
