The Ruston school reunion was a great success by all accounts. Well over a hundred people braved the stormy weather on August 9th to share memories and commemorate a different era. Most of us who now live in Ruston have no comprehension of these by-gone days, yet they form an important foundation of who we are today.
Carol Gore, who organized this event, has graciously allowed me to scan the memorabilia they gathered. I will be working to upload photos, school programs, PTA books and much more in the coming days to the Ruston Memories blog. Let me know if you want to add your own memories at kpickett22@yahoo.com.
As the master of ceremonies for the reunion noted in his remarks, "Ruston schools' doors were closed by the Tacoma School District in 1985. They may have closed the doors to the school but they can never close our hearts and minds to the memories it provided to all of us who ever attended school in Ruston." Enjoy this sampling of Ruston's early days....

Does anyone have pictures of the Garrison house on Winnifred street?
You mean the house you bought from Lee Garrison, who you tried to sue?
who is this
Your town is just alittle slice of
paradise, aint it?
Old honest Garrison, is what Lee went by in the day.
I don't think he was a very honest person.
A simple & honest request. Why the attack? It is really nice to know the history of the home you live in. I'll ask too if anyone has pictures of the old days with the store in them. Mean hearted people will be ignored.

If visitors take your advice, what will happen to the six of you who write most of the mean spirited material? Where will you go?
I don't know.Maybe Ocean Shores.Thats every bit as dismal as
as this place.
Thanks for more of the "sappy" pictures and such. I like history.
