Tonight at 7 pm is the public hearing for Point Ruston's request to use the view corridor at the end of Commercial Street for two building lots, a requirement that was added at the last minute by the council last summer (but was not required by the planning commission). They have developed some very good visual displays that show the impact of the new homes to views.
It's human nature to respond when we oppose something like this. But its equally important that those who are neutral or supportive of this concept attend tonight, hear all the information and voice their opinions as well.
Point Ruston is also asking for a reduction in the side yard set back to match the rest of Ruston. The council will be acting as the decision making body on these decisions since most of the planning commission members are new. Based on council discussion, they will make a decision at tonight's meeting so the plat can be finalized in time to be put on the assessor's rolls in time for collection of 2009 taxes.
Please join the fun at 7 pm at the Ruston School building (5219 N. Shirley, Room 101) at 7 pm tonight!

These so-called "view corridors" were inserted maliciously to stop the STACK HILL development by the last Council in a 3-2 vote. Remember the Tacoma News Tribune in an article on the matter called the council "weird". Needs to be undone. Unweirded, is the word I was thinking of.
it'll be interesting to see if the council avoid the planning commission's input because they're new. once there's a quorum established being "new" doesn't get them out of the process already established. sounds like a good question for the town attorney.
It's my understand that the mayor had the authority to choose the council or planning commission for this decision - at least that's what he read at the meeting where this was announced...
Boy, someone really likes those exclamation points even more than I do!!! It makes the point :) Thanks for joining in the converstation…
Convert "Stuck up Hill" to "Land Fill Hill". Charge Pierce Co
an outlandish fee for garbage. Perserve the views for us Hill-Billies.And NEVER allow the price of beer to raise above $3.50 a six pack.
Thats what i'm talkin bout.
Darwin
Hill Billy Hill? Now that has a nice ring to it.Put up a half a**
chain link fence, maybe throw some old tires and couches and other trash on it,Let Mark walk his dogs and do their business(****) on it.
That would be much better than having the mean ol Devil-oper do anything nice with HIS property.
(not yours people)
Good luck and good night.
