A lively debate has ensued with comments to Jim Hedrick's interview on the News Tribune's Word On The Street blog. I am very glad to see interaction by different points of view. Feel free to join in on either blog...

There is a lot to talk about. I would like to give our council an opportunity to show they do care about Ruston and make decisions that are right.
Jenny Barton has been our part-time utility clerk for a long time. There are more people living here, the workload has increased, she assists the clerk-treasurer and fills in during her absences.
We need another full time person to assist in serving us residents. Let’s have a win for the council, the citizens and Jenny. Make Jenny’s position full time. She is a single mom who earned a college degree and has dedicated seven years of her life to this town. We get a smart, hard working young lady and she gets a full time job.
Remember, whether we want it or not, Ruston is growing and we depend on you to plan for it. Here’s an opportunity to take the first step forward.
So true! This is a logical step, but I'm not holding my breath for logic right now. Thanks for keeping it in the forefront, though! Maybe logic will win out one of these days...
