What others think....

A friend and neighbor sent me this email on Sunday morning. He agreed to let me post it here. I hope more of you will send in your thoughts, let's keep this important conversation going.

Good morning Karen.

I just spoke to Mayor Transue. I have offered my support to him as the Mayor. I am contacting others in the community to do the same. We can start by attending the meeting on Tuesday night, remaining calm and civil. All of us realize the stress this Town is under. It will do no good to be at the meeting and be disruptive-The Mayor and Council will adjourn it immediately. We need to get further than the pledge of allegiance. I am asking all my friends around Town to hold their frustrations, at least for now. We need to appoint a new Council member. Lets hope and pray the Council acts fairly. (I'm not saying that you acted in out of line) We can make a difference by the actions we take.
Best regards,
Ken.

"Civil and calm"

I think we started that way. The council took it as a sign of weakness and stabbed us in the back with lies and deception. They do not deserve our respect or civility. They are scoundrels.

The council's actions were the spark that started the fire. Many of us are very angry right now and our anger is righteous and justified.

I believe the only thing the council can do to get this thing settled down is to publicly and unequivocally apologize for their deceit. They need to state openly and clearly that they are done with this nonsense of trying to part out Ruston's resources. A clear statement that they support a strong and viable future for our town would go a long way toward settling things down.

There's a concept in business: that which is not growing is dying. Ruston must grow if it is to survive. The developers of the condo have done it within the law and the process set out by the Town. Mr. Cohen would like to do the same with Point Ruston. But the council seems set against this as if they were the ones who owned the property. This is America, damn it. If they wanted to control what happens on that property, they should have bought it. To stand in the way of a legitimate developer will only bring on more grief to the town via lawsuits.

Is this the way they now intend to destroy the town -- suicide by lawyer?

Until then renounce their vicious, self-serving ways, they deserve nothing but our contempt. They need to go and go quickly.

Mayor Transue:

Here is another lawyer who seems pretty worthless. He is so caught up in fear of being sued that he won't make a decision or take a stand on anything.

He is supposed to be the executive branch of the government. This is a "separate but equal" branch from the legislative branch, that being the town council. Yet he conducts himself as if he's subservient to them. Get a clue, Mr. Mayor, and earn the respect your position deserves. A luke warm approach is nearly as infuriating as what the council is doing.

Civil and calm? I'll bet the residents would love to have a reason to settle down. I hope the council and mayor will give it to them.

If we annex with Tacoma has the RC taken into consideration the tremendous cost of publication? Also if they are against development how do they think their opinions will matter once tacoma is doing our bidding? i cant imagine that they would think anybody down on market street would care about their feelings on it. I really feel that annexation would not benefit any of us no matter whose side we are on.
