Ruston council members Wayne Stebner and Dan Albertson admitted under pressure at last night’s council meeting that they have met with Tacoma Fire Chief Stephens. But they refused to give any details of what arrangements they are making with Tacoma Fire to take over Ruston’s emergency services, despite requests from the mayor, Ruston fire chief and several members of the public. These requests came shortly after Albertson had complained that the mayor was not providing information to the council in advance so they would have time to study and research the issues.
The public deserves the same consideration.
Given the gravity of this decision, such secrecy does not serve the citizens of Ruston. At the very least Ruston’s mayor, fire chief and fire committee should be involved in any discussion with Tacoma Fire Department. Karen
